living like a local: ann-sofie back, wrap-up

09/25/2017

Last week, I traveled around Södermalm, visiting the favorites spots of Ann-Sofie Back, the designer of BACK. It was a great week of exploring like a local, and I discovered a few new spots of myself along the way.

The first outing was to APLACE at Bruno Gallerian, Götgatan 36. Back mentioned this as one of her favorite places to shop in Stockholm. The gallery itself houses other shopping spots like Flippa K, H&M, Hope, J.Lindeberg, and WHYRED just to name a few. I learned that APLACE is a fashion store & magazine that was founded in 2007, and you can check out all the brands and shop the store at their website here

Along the way of locating Aplace, I stumbled upon a few other places on my own. Brandstationen is a floral shop, meets vintage decor, plus watches/accessories. Totally recommend checking out!

If you are big into consignment and thrift shopping like myself, then you would be happy to know there is Stadsmissionens Second Hand & Röda Korset (Red Cross) in the area across from Mariatorget garden/park.

Another favorite shopping spot of Back's is Från Ö Till A, located in Södermalm as well. This multi-level shopping experience has brands like Acne Studios, Stutterheim, L'homme Rouge, 5Preview, Common Affairs and many, many more. One of the best parts about this spot is that there is a second hand store located in the basement called Humana Second Hand and I will definitely be returning to shop.

According to Stockholm Fashion District, Back's favorite lookout spot is the view from Fjällgatan in Södermalm. I ventured out on a chilly evening, so this Texan didn't last too long, but it was a very beautiful city view including the sight of old town and the city's amusement park, Gröna Lund.

Lastly, Back's favorite bar in Stockholm, Cafe Nizza. The hubs and I went for a date night and enjoyed a couple glasses of their rött (red) Maggiorina, Le Piane, accompanied with ricotta, anchoas solano & espelette, and their AMAZING homemade bread & butter (vårt rågsurdegsbröd med hemkärnat smör). I can totally see why this is her favorite bar! Very french, very quaint, very lovely.

That night we also discovered a new favorite restaurant in our books, called Nytorget 6. I mean, seriously some of the best food I have ever eaten. I can't recommend the white asparagus soup with baked egg & chive oil enough - so amazing! The mini scallops with aioli & fried crab cakes with creamy corn, pickled chili & coriander were also equally awesome.

Overall, it was a pretty great week, thank you Ann-Sofie Back & Stockholm Fashion District for the recommendations!

Tack så mycket!
